Residential Energy Audits

Home energy audits are the first step in creating a more energy efficient and comfortable home.  Accurate Heating and Cooling conducts extensive tests on energy efficiency, energy consumption and air infiltration and then recommends improvements to help lower consumption and improve efficiency.

Tests for Energy Efficiency
Rather than focusing on a single component, such as windows, an old air conditioning system, or leaky ductwork, we will assess how improvements to all of these components can work together to provide a more efficient home.  Tests we conduct include but are not limited to:

Visual Inspection
A walk-thru inspection of interior and exterior of building, attic and heating and cooling equipment.

Blower Door Test
A blower door is a diagnostic tool designed to measure the air tightness of buildings and to help locate air leakage sites.  A blower door consists of a calibrated fan for measuring an airflow rate, an a pressure-sensing device to measure the air pressure created by the fan flow.  The combination of pressure and fan-flow measurements are used to determine the building air tightness.

Thermal Imaging
Infrared inspection enables a powerful non-invasive method to monitor and diagnose the condition of buildings.  Results are captured and documented instantly and easily into professional reports – giving homeowners tangible proof of our findings.  Infrared inspection helps you save time and money, and helps identify air leakage and poorly performing insulation or no insulation.

Combustion Testing
The combustion appliance safety inspection includes all of the following: carbon monoxide test, draft measurement, spillage evaluation, and worst-case depressurization of the combustion appliance zone.  In homes with natural gas/propane service, the gas line is inspected thoroughly and all leaks noted.
